These drawings are by my co-worker Natalie. We sat next to each other every day for the past 5 months. She, of anyone, has observed my day to day moods and has been in close contact with me each day since my "coming out" about meth two weeks ago. I particularly appreciate the illustration of me looking at myself in the mirror. It is something I never told her, but after a weekend of partying, I would look at myself and see sunken, tired eyes; dried, wrinkled, mal-nourished skin; and an empty soul. Even in secret, I had to face myself. Thank you, Natalie, for these beautiful drawings. Illustrations by Natalie Topa ] 8/7/05 Back |
