![]() My Snazzy New Suit for Interviews ![]() No Alcohol since Memorial Day = Day 94 In mid-June I decided to move to San Francisco to be closer to the school where I am enrolled in an executive MBA program. My mom flew out to Washington DC from Los Angeles, and we drove cross-country together the first week of August. I have begun to make new friends in San Francisco, meeting people through support groups for recovering crystal meth addicts. This past weekend, I began my Fall Semester, enrolled in four classes: Strategic Management, Managerial Finance, Managerial Marketing, and Sustainable Products and Services. I have also been interviewing for a full-time design position in San Francisco. Today I interviewed for a design position at a global accounting firm. When they asked me if there was anything else I wanted to mention, I shared my experience with crystal meth, the steps I took last July to get help, and the joy and success I am finding in a new life without dependence on drugs and alcohol. There is no shame in seeking help. There is no shame in making mistakes. I share my experience without shame and it keeps me in an environment where those who care about me can help me stay on track. I was quoted in this week's Philadelphia Weekly. The article references a local survey that suggests increasing crystal meth use in Philadelphia's gay community. You can read the story here. Why do I keep taking pictures? Why do I keep this site going? Because maybe one person who doesn't know how to stop using crystal meth will find the inspiration in my story to do whatever it takes to get help. |
