Six Months ] 2/7/06 |
![]() Dawn ] 2/7/06 I was in Tampa, FL Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday designing a logo for the T-a-m-p-a R-i-v-e-r-w-a-l-k, a 2.5 mile stretch of 15 foot wide pathway along the waterways around downtown Tampa. This type of design work is perfectly in line with my ten year goal of being a lead designer for the 2012 London Olympics. I strolled the river Monday evening taking pictures of the r.i.v.e.r.w.a.l.k, enjoying a picture perfect sunset overlooking the downtown. This portion of the Hillsborough River is famous for its perfect crew regatta conditions. Tuesday, I worked to design logo alternatives including application of the logo to banners, t-shirts, and post cards. My Wednesday morning presentation to the Mayor and the r.i.v.e.r.w.a.l.k. steering committee went perfectly, as she selected a great option with approval to proceed in preparation for a major media event in March. In the middle of all of this... (tears swell just typing this...) In the middle of all of this is a six month celebration. Six months without crystal methamphetamine. Just another day. But a milestone for an addict who would probably be jobless, sick and broke, had I not jumped out when I did. I chose what I love... life... design... a future. A sunrise worth looking forward to. ![]() Dusk ] 2/6/06 Logo concept and photography by Chad Upham. Back |
