Sleep and Exercise ] 9/23/05

Fort Mason, San Francisco ] 9/23/05

This is what I look like with 11 hours of sleep and a quick morning run around the hills of San Francisco. Back on the west coast for the 2nd of 5 trips this fall, I will be in classes Thursday through Sunday, then flying back to D.C. Sunday night. During a quick break from my Principles of Sustainable Management class Friday morning, I ran outside for a few quick pictures.

In the Classroom ] 9/23/05

Last night I was feeling a little tired, a little wired, a little restless, a little horny, a little lonely. I am staying with a class mate who lives about a 10 minute walk from the Castro. It would have been easy to go out, have some drinks, dance, hook-up, forget. Instead I went to bed at 8:30. I feel a little better today. I might run again tonight, and get another good night's sleep.

I have tried making a few phone calls to friends, just to connect. It is helpful to know that other people are thinking about me, and that I am thinking about other people. Connection is important. It is something that I miss a little bit on these trips. There are people here to connect with, my classmates. But I miss touch, hugs, being able to just relax in union. Like dogs in a pack, who lay next to each other to keep warm and feel that connection. Dogs are cool. They like to just be with other dogs or other people. I like that. I want to be like that, and I want to create a community where that is normal, accepted, and not wierd.
